My 2026 Wellness Resolutions: How I’m Getting Stronger, Calmer, and More Intentional This Year

Every year, I used to make the same kind of resolutions: “Get in better shape.” “Eat cleaner.” “Be less stressed.” And every year, I’d end up frustrated by February, wondering why nothing stuck. It wasn’t until my 40s — when I finally took control of my health and began this wild, wonderful fitness journey — that I realized something: wellness isn’t a quick-fix resolution. It’s a relationship. And like any good relationship, it needs intention, care, and a whole lot of honesty.

Now at 50, and leading the SoulFit Revolution, I don’t just set resolutions. I set rituals. I set goals that align with who I am and who I want to become. I don’t chase quick results. I create momentum that lasts all year — and beyond.

So as we step into 2026 together, I want to invite you into my personal wellness intentions for the year ahead — and share some tips to help you create your own.

Reflecting on 2025: What I Learned, What I’m Leaving

Before I ever write down a goal, I take time to reflect. Last year taught me so much — about my body, my schedule, my mindset, and even my limits.

Wins I’m celebrating from 2025:

  • I maintained a consistent strength training routine, even through my busiest class seasons.

  • I finally made recovery a priority, not an afterthought.

  • I said “yes” to more rest days and “no” to guilt about taking them.

  • I leaned into community — our SoulFit crew kept me inspired and accountable.

But I also hit some walls:

  • I overcommitted (again) and had to pull back from a few things mid-year.

  • I didn’t fuel my body as intentionally as I should have — especially on long teaching days.

  • I let my hydration slip toward the holidays (coffee refills don’t count, no matter how much I wish they did!).

All of this helped shape how I’m approaching 2026: more mindful, more sustainable, and more aligned with who I am today.

My 3 Core Wellness Focus Areas for 2026

Instead of a long list of rules or restrictions, I am going to focus on three pillars: Movement, Recovery, and Mindset. These will guide my resolutions — and keep me grounded when life gets chaotic.

1. Move with Purpose, Not Pressure

I’m not chasing any crazy body transformations this year. My goal? Stay strong, energized, and mobile — for life.

My 2026 Movement Commitments:

  • 3 Strength Sessions a Week: I’m protecting time for full-body resistance training — even if it’s just 30 minutes at home with dumbbells and bands.

  • Keep Teaching with Heart: My group classes keep me moving and connected. I’m doubling down on fun, music, and community.

  • Daily Mobility or Stretching (Even Just 5 Minutes): My joints aren’t 20 anymore. I’ll be incorporating more dynamic warmups and slow evening stretches.

  • Monthly “Try Something New” Challenge: Whether it’s a new yoga class, dance style, or even a YouTube boxing session, I want to shake things up!

This year, movement is about JOY — not punishment.

2. Recover Like It’s My Job

Because it is. As someone who teaches, lifts, walks, and stretches for a living, I’ve learned the hard way that recovery is non-negotiable.

In 2025, I finally saw how much my attention to proper supplementation (especially my collagen and magnesium) helped me sleep better, heal faster, and feel stronger. (Thank you, 3D Labs Nutrition — I’ll never go without you again!)

My 2026 Recovery Tools:

  • Daily Collagen Supplement: I add a scoop of 3D Labs Nutrition Collagen Powder to my morning shake or coffee. It’s amazing for joint support and skin health.

  • Sleep = Sacred: I’m sticking to my wind-down ritual: phone down, herbal tea, magnesium, and low lights by 9PM.

  • Weekly Rest Day = Non-Negotiable: Even if I feel good, I know my body needs true rest. Sunday = sacred recovery day.

  • Massage Gun + Percussion Therapy: My glutes, hamstrings, and calves thank me every time I take five minutes after class.

  • More Nature, Less Noise: Walks outdoors — without music, without podcasts — just me and the trees. That’s recovery, too.

3. Train My Mind Like I Train My Body

If you’ve been following my journey, you know that fitness didn’t just change my body. It saved my mind. And over the past few years, I’ve realized how much my thoughts, self-talk, and energy determine whether I thrive or just survive.

So this year, I’m being just as intentional about my internal world.

Mindset Practices for 2026:

  • Morning Affirmations (No Eye-Rolling Allowed): “I’m strong.” “I’m growing.” “I’m not behind.” These aren’t fluff. They’re fuel.

  • Gratitude Journaling 3x a Week: I use a small notebook. Just three things. It centers me fast.

  • Saying No Without Guilt: This one is hard. But necessary.

  • Unfollowing Energy Vampires: If it drains me, it’s not staying in my feed.

  • Reading One Growth Book per Month: From mindset to business to healing — learning keeps me mentally agile.

How I’m Actually Keeping These Resolutions

Let’s be honest — setting goals is easy. Keeping them? That’s where most people stumble. Here’s what I’ve found really works (and no, it’s not fancy planners or color-coded calendars — although I love those too):

✨ My Resolution-Sticking Strategies:

  • Start Small, Stack Later: I begin my morning routine with just water and journaling. Now it’s a whole wellness ritual.

  • Pick a Word of the Year: Mine for 2026? ROOTED. It will remind me to stay grounded, not scattered.

  • Make It Visual: I will print my goals and tape them to my bathroom mirror. Every day I see them.

  • Anchor Habits to Existing Routines: I will stretch while my coffee brews. I will take my supplements right after brushing my teeth.

  • Check In Monthly, Not Just in January: I am scheduling a “SoulFit Self Check” at the end of each month to review what’s working and what needs adjusting.

Resolutions I’m Not Making This Year

This one’s important.

I’m not resolving to be smaller. I’m not punishing my body for the holidays. I’m not starting over. I’m continuing — stronger, wiser, and more in tune with my values.

I’m not quitting carbs. I’m not chasing anyone else’s version of “fit.” I’m not shaming myself for needing rest, softness, or slower seasons.

And I hope you won’t either.

What’s Your Wellness Word for 2026?

I’ll leave you with this: Instead of listing a hundred things to do this year, what if you chose how you want to feel? Empowered? Peaceful? Strong? Free? Joyful?

Choose your word. Then build your actions around it. Mine is ROOTED. Rooted in routine. Rooted in community. Rooted in who I am and who I’m becoming.
